More offensive tackles being linked to Ravens in 2024 NFL draft

OWINGS MILLS — Many draft experts have linked the Ravens to Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.

There are several other players at that position who could be attractive with the 30th overall pick.

The Ravens have a vacancy at right tackle after trading Morgan Moses to the New York Jets this offseason.

Patrick Mekari and Daniel Faalele are on the depth chart at right tackle, but the Ravens will look to add at least one player in the draft to compete for the starting job.

Several draft boards have Mims selected in the early 20s, so he might not be available when the Ravens make their first-round pick.

If Mims is gone, one tackle who could be available at No. 3o is BYU’s Kingsley Suamataia, who has the strength and size to make an immediate impact. Suamataia has played right and left tackle in college. Last season, he allowed nine quarterback hurries, six quarterback hits, and two sacks over 644 snaps.

“Morgan Moses was traded to New York. While Patrick Mekari has the capability of fulfilling that assignment, his value is as a utility lineman that can play a variety of positions in a pinch,” said CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards. “The addition of Kingsley Suamataia, who played both left and right tackle for BYU, allows them that flexibility.”

Another tackle who could fall to the Ravens is Alabama’s J.C. Latham, who made 13 starts at right tackle and was named a Second-Team All-American. He is 6 feet 6, 360 pounds, athletic, and can be a solid run and pass blocker. ,

“The Ravens may go receiver or corner here instead, but they have a need at tackle, and Latham is excellent value for them this late in the first,” said Tom Fornelli, of CBS Sports. “Plus, it’s not like the Ravens don’t have a long history of drafting Alabama players.”

Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton is another tackle who fits the Ravens’ profile with size — 6 feet 8, 322 pounds — and power to overwhelm pass rushers. Guyton is also a solid run blocker and fits the Ravens’ system with his ability to pull.

“Ravens GM Eric DeCosta needs to address the edges, with Morgan Moses traded away and Ronnie Stanley struggling to stay healthy,” the NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks said. “Guyton is an intriguing option as a potential Day 1 starter at right tackle, and he has enough athleticism to eventually move to the left side.”
