Rashod Bateman shines in the rain, more interceptions for Ravens’ defense

OWINGS MILLS — The Ravens were caught in a downpour at practice on Monday.

The weather didn’t affect wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who has stacked several effective practices. Bateman caught about a 60-yard touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson. Bateman got behind cornerback Ka’dar Hollman for an over-the-shoulder catch down the sideline.  Bateman also had several nifty catches in team drills.

The Ravens are setting their sights on the NFL’s regular-season opener against the Super Bowl champion Chiefs on September 5th. First, the team will travel to Green Bay on Wednesday for a joint practice before the final preseason game at Lambeau Field.

“[It] was a good workday for us, and we’re getting pointed towards two things: we’re getting pointed towards [our trip to] Green Bay, but we’re also pointed towards the opener in Kansas City,” coach John Harbaugh said.

More interceptions: Rookie cornerback Nate Wiggins had another interception. He has continued to excel throughout the preseason. Pepe Williams also had an interception and has been mostly solid throughout training camp.

Andrews update: Tight end Mark Andrews has not practiced since he was involved in a car accident on August 14th. Harbaugh said he’s not concerned about Andrews’ future availability. “We’re not messing with it right now. Don’t worry about Mark,” Harbaugh said. Andrews will travel with the team to Green Bay.

Linderbaum on schedule: Center Tyler Linderbaum has not practiced since August 1st because of a neck injury. Harbaugh said there are no long-term concerns. “He’s right on schedule, kind of where we were planning,” Harbaugh said. “He won’t be in any kind of contact work this week. He’s in a good place.”

Absences: In addition to Andrews and Linderbaum, the Ravens who did not practice were cornerback Arthur Maulet, safety Eddie Jackson, rookie running back Rasheen Ali, outside linebacker Adisa Isaac, inside linebacker Josh Ross, defensive tackle Josh Tupou, wide receiver Devontez Walker and tight end Scottie Washington
