Ravens have free-agent options at wide receiver, edge rusher

The Ravens can potentially bolster their roster at wide receiver and edge rusher — two areas that could use a boost on the current roster.

Coach John Harbaugh is counting on the team’s young group of wide receivers, including Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, and Tylan Wallace, to be productive this season. However, general manager Eric DeCosta could bring in another veteran to support quarterback Lamar Jackson.

These are the top free-agent wide receivers still available:

Michael Thomas
Age: 31; Experience: 7 years;  Career receptions: 565; Career yards: 6,569; Career Touchdowns: 36

Hunter Renfrow
Age: 28; Experience: 5 years; Career receptions: 269; Career yards: 2,884; Career Touchdowns: 17

Corey Davis
Age: 29; Experience: 6 years; Career receptions: 273; Career yards: 3,879; Career Touchdowns: 17

Julio Jones
Age: 35; Experience: 13 years; Career receptions: 914; Career yards: 13,703; Career Touchdowns: 66

JuJu Smith-Schuster
Age: 27; Experience: 7 years; Career receptions: 430; Career yards: 5,048 Touchdowns: 22

In addition, the Ravens could also use help at edge rusher after losing Jadaveon Clowney to free agency. Clowney had 9 1/2 sacks last season and the Ravens are hoping Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo can match that production. However, the team could add another veteran edge rusher to take some of the pressure off those young outside linebackers.

These are the top free-agent edge rushers still available:

Yannick Ngakoue
Age: 29; Experience: 9 years; Career sacks: 69

Charles Harris
Age: 29; Experience: 7 years; Career sacks: 16.5

Tyus Bowser
Age: 29; Experience: 6 years; Career sacks: 19.5

Marquis Haynes
Age: 30; Experience: 6 years; Career sacks: 14

Shaq Lawson
Age:3  30 ; Experience: 8 years; Career sacks: 26

The biggest challenge could be the Ravens’ salary-cap situation. DeCosta has about $5.5 million in cap space, according to Overtehcap.com. DeCosta will need some of those funds to replace players who sustain injuries with free agents or potentially finalize a trade.
