OWINGS MILLS — The Ravens’ first chart compiled by the public relations staff was released heading into the regular-season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 5th.
As predicted by BaltimoreSports.com, Pat Mekari is listed as the starter at right tackle over rookie Roger Rosengarten. Coach John Harbaugh wants to have more experienced players in a raucous environment as the Chiefs unveil the Super Bowl banner. Rosengarten will likely get opportunities to start in the coming weeks, possibly in the home opener against the Raiders on September 15th.
There are no other surprises on the offensive line with Tyler Linerbaum at center and Ronnie Stanley at left tackle — the two returning starters from last season. Second-year player Andrew Vorhees will be at left guard and Danielle Faalele will start at right guard. Faalele made the switch from tackle this offseason and is adjusting to the new position.
The rest of the offensive starters are quarterback Lamar Jackson, running back Derrick Henry, fullback Pat Ricard, tight end Mark Andrews, and wide receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.
On defense, Trenton Simpson will start at inside linebacker next to Roquan Smith. The outside linebackers are Odafe Oweh and Kyle Van Noy.
Michael Pierce will start at nose tackle for the second straight year and Travis Jones will start at defensive end.
The cornerbacks are Brandon Stephen and Marlon Humphrey. Rookie first-round pick Nate Wiggins is second on the depth chart behind Humphrey.
Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Willisam will start at safety. Eddie Jackson is backing up Hamilton at strong safety, and Ar’Darius Washington is No. 2 behind Williams at free safety. Rookie Beau Brade is at free safety with Sanoussi Kane at strong safety.
