OWINGS MILLS — It appears the Ravens are not going to be serious bidders for six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams, who reportedly requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders.
That news is sitting well with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who likes the current group of playmakers.
“I believe we’re in a groove right now, just taking strides in the right places,” Jackson said. “We’ve just got to keep going, keep our heads down, and focus on the task at hand. My guys are doing a great job. Receivers, tight ends, running backs, fullbacks. Our guys are doing it all right now and we’re winning games. That’s all that matters.”
The Ravens have the NFL’s No. 1 offense, averaging 447.6 yards per game. Jackson has thrown for 1,206 yards with nine touchdowns and one interception for a 107.2 passer rating. He has also run for 363 yards with two scores.
Jackson has done a solid job of spreading the ball around and has completed passes to 10 players. Wide receiver Zay Flowers leads the team with 24 receptions for 269 yards and a touchdown.
Jackson also has done well getting other players involved. Third-string tight end Charlier Kolar caught a 30-yard pass against the Cowboys in Week 3 and a 55-yard reception last week against the Bengals.
Kolar has made a huge difference with the offense.
“We [always] knew what Charlie could do,” Jackson said. “I’ll say [that] it was just up to him to just make the catches and make the runs after the catch. Hopefully, [he’ll] score next time and not just get caught all the time. … But he’s doing what we’ve all seen in [training] camp and in practice and stuff like that.”
Still, the Ravens offense is centered on the running game and they lead the NFL with 211.2 yards per game. Derrick Henry has been a huge addition, leading the league with 572 yards rushing and six touchdowns.
He’s looking forward to Sunday’s challenge against the Washington Commanders.
“It’s a new week [and] a new opportunity,” Henry said. “What happened last week really doesn’t matter; you’ve got to prove it again. I think momentum is a big part. When you’re in a rhythm, and you’re executing plays very well, there’s a lot of stuff you can build stuff off.”
