Ravens QB Lamar Jackson named AFC Offensive Player of the Week … again

OWINGS MILLS — Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after a stellar performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

Jackson threw for 281 yards with five touchdowns for a 158.1 rating in the 41-31 victory. He also threw some of his best deep balls of the season and had a 49-yard scoring pass to Rashod Bateman against an all-out blitz.

Jackson also ran nine times for 52 yards.

“It’s incredible, and he’ll go down in the history of ‘Monday Night Football’ for sure, and he has a lot more to go,” coach John Harbaugh said.

It’s also the fourth straight week that Jackson or running back Derrick Henry has won the award. Jackson won in weeks 5 and 7, and Henry won in weeks 4 and 6.

It’s the first time in NFL history that teammates won Offensive Player of the Week in four consecutive weeks.

Jackson has now won the award 12 times, tying Matt Stover and Justin Tucker for the most in franchise history.

“He is just the ultimate competitor,” Harbaugh said about Jackson. “There is no question about it. I don’t know if I’ve seen a better competitor than Lamar Jackson, and I’ve seen some competitors – some great competitors – but he is [at] that level with the greatest competitors I’ve ever seen. [He] may be the greatest. We’ll see. It’s just amazing.”
