Lamar Jackson misses Ravens’ practice with illness

OWINGS MILLS — Quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice Thursday because of an illness as the Ravens continued preparations for the Week 14 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Coach John Harbaugh was not available to speak with the media. Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken declined to provide any information on Jackson’s status, deferring all questions to Harbaugh.

“It’s not my place to speak on players that are or aren’t at practice,” Monken said.

Jackson spoke to reporters on Wednesday and was not listed on that day’s injury report. He did not appear to be hampered during the media viewing of practice and was active in team drills.

It was the first practice of the year that Jackson has missed.

Jackson has missed practice with an illness in past years but was able to play the following game. As a result, all signs could point to him playing against the Rams on Sunday.

He has appeared in every game this season and has thrown for 2,618 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. His 98.4 quarterback rating ranks seventh in the NFL.

He is also second on the team with 574 yards rushing and is the main catalyst in the Ravens’ offense.

Jackson did miss the last five games in each of the past two seasons with ankle and knee injuries. The Ravens are 4-8 when Jackson is not in the lineup.

Fourth-year player Tyler Huntley is the Ravens’ No. 2 quarterback. Huntley has appeared in 18 games career games and has thrown six touchdowns with seven interceptions.
