BALTIMORE — Ravens tight end Mark Andrews can set a franchise record in the Week 2 home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
The three-time Pro Bowler has 40 career touchdowns and needs one more to tie fellow tight end Todd Heap for the most all-time in Ravens history.
Andrews also needs one game with multiple touchdown receptions to become the fourth tight end in NFL history to reach the mark in 10 games within the first seven years of a career, joining Rob Gronkowski (14), Jimmy Graham (13), and Antonio Gates (11).
In producing a multi-touchdown receiving game, Andrews will surpass Heap for the most such games in franchise history.
Andrews is looking to bounce back from a quiet game in a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the regular-season opener last Thursday.
Andrews faced a lot of double coverage and was targeted only twice by quarterback Lamar Jackson. It created opportunities for fellow tight end Isaiah Likely, who set career highs with nine receptions for 111 yards.
Andrews caught both his targets for 14 yards but is poised to be more active against the Raiders.
Roster moves: The Ravens activated defensive back Ka’dar Hollman and running back John Kelly from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Both players will contribute on special teams and Kelly also will serve as the backup to Derrick Henry and Justice Hill. It’s also a sign that Kyle Van Noy (eye) will be active because the Ravens chose not to elevate an outside linebacker.
Inactives: The Ravens’ inactive players are: cornerback Nate Wiggins (neck/concussion), outside linebacker Adisa Isaac (hamstring), offensive lineman Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, safety Beau Brade, center Nick Samac, cornerbackT.J. Tampa and wide receiver Devontez Walker
Dominance: Baltimore holds an 8-4 regular-season series lead against the Raiders, including a 6-1 mark at home. Under coach John Harbaugh, the Ravens are 5-3 against the Raiders, producing a 3-1 record in Charm City.
Fines: Ravens inside linebacker Roquan Smith was fined $16,833 for an unnecessary roughness penalty against the Chiefs. He was flagged for a horse-collar tackle. … Outside linebacker, Odafe Oweh was fined $20,050 for unnecessary roughness for a play where he was credited with a tackle on running back Isiah Pacheco.
